Governor Janet Mills announced today that she has nominated Guy Langevin, Chief Administrative Officer of Dead River, to serve as Chair of the State Workforce Investment Board (SWIB).

Langevin joined Dead River Company in 2009 as Vice President of Human Resources and Organizational Development. In 2018, he was promoted to his current role as Chief Administrative Officer overseeing Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal, Safety and Risk Management, Strategy Planning and Business Optimization.

“The State Workforce Investment Board plays a critical role in our efforts to drive economic growth, address workforce challenges and create a strong, sustainable and diverse economy,” said Governor Mills. “Guy Langevin is well-respected business leader and veteran with an extensive background in workforce development. His experience and skills will be an important asset as we strive to reach those goals. I look forward to working with him in the years ahead.”

“I am honored that Governor Mills has nominated me to serve the people of Maine, and I look forward to working to address the pressing needs of Maine’s workforce,” said Guy Langevin.

Born and raised in southern Maine, Langevin earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Maine and his master’s degree from the City University of New York. He is a United States Army veteran where he worked in Military Intelligence as a Cryptologic Linguist. Before joining Dead River Company, he worked in leadership roles at Hannaford Bros. Co. and Key Bank Corporation.

Langevin has been a member of the State Workforce Investment Board for two years and currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for Junior Achievement of Maine, Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors for Maine Education Services and as a Board Director for Maine and Company.

The State Workforce Investment Board (SWIB) strives to ensure that Maine’s workforce development system helps Maine people and businesses compete successfully in the global economy. State law says that the chair of the SWIB shall “represent business and industry.”

The SWIB advises the Governor on workforce policy and the development and evaluation of the Workforce Development System (WDS), which includes other state agencies such as Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services along with the Community College System, University of Maine System and employers.
