Governor Mills to Deliver State of the State January 21st

Governor Janet Mills will deliver the State of the State address to a joint convention of the Maine House and Senate on January 21, 2020 at 7:00 P.M.

In her remarks, Governor Mills will pay tribute to the State’s bicentennial, celebrate the progress made during her first year in office, highlight her priorities for the second legislative session, and present her vision for Maine.

“We have much to be thankful for as Maine enters its 200th year of statehood. Last year alone, we expanded Medicaid, unveiled a new economic development strategy, and embraced clean, renewable energy to help us create jobs and fight climate change,” said Governor Mills. “But there is more work to do. We can improve health insurance for Maine people and small businesses. We can strengthen and diversify our economy to ensure every person is able to get a good-paying job across the state. And we can protect our environment and invest in clean energy so that future generations can know and love Maine as we do today. I look forward to sharing my vision for our state and to setting us on a path of hope and prosperity as we begin our next two hundred years.”

Governor Mills will address both the House and Senate in the Maine State House chamber on January 21 at 7:00 P.M. Read Governor Mills’ acceptance letter in response to President Jackson and Speaker Gideons’ invitation is attached.
