This was the second quarterly meeting of the Maine Climate Council. The meeting featured a presentation by the Department of Environmental Protection about their newly released Eighth Biennial Report on Progress toward Greenhouse Gas Reduction Goals; Scientific and Technical Subcommittee presentations about their initial summary of the effects of climate change on Maine; and presentations and break-out discussions of the draft scopes of each working group.

On March 25th, GOPIF held an important webinar for members of the Maine Climate Council and its working groups and subcommittees to kick off an engagement process with the draft interim recommendations of the Equity Subcommittee. This briefing provided an overview of equity metrics frameworks used to measure equitable implementation of climate and clean energy programs nationally/in other jurisdictions. Presenters reviewed the proposed process for the working groups and Scientific and Technical Subcommittee to engage with interim ESC recommendations and help identify equity metrics, with time for questions from the Maine Climate Council, working groups, and subcommittee members.
