Blue Economy Task Force 2.0

A new resolve, which takes effect 9/24/25, aims to continue the work of the task force, adjusts the task force member and appointment procedures, and establishes some new goals for the task force, including the following:

  1. Develop recommendations for the establishment of the Center for the Blue Economy.
  2. Recommend improvements and expansions of blue economy workforce education and training to encompass the elementary and secondary school system and public and private institutions of higher education.

Maine's Blue Economy Task Force - A Report to the Maine Legislature

 

Blue Economy Task Force 1.0

Per statute (per S.P. 523 – LD 1286, Resolve, to Establish the Blue Economy Task Force to Support Maine’s Emergence as a Center for Blue Economy Innovation and Opportunity in the 21st Century), the Department is required to convene the Blue Economy Task Force (BETF) to support Maine’s emergence as a center for blue economy innovation and opportunity in the 21st century. “Blue economy” means business sectors that rely on the sustainable use of ocean resources for economic health, improved livelihoods, jobs or ecosystem health.
