The Harness Racing Commission provides oversight and support of the Maine’s harness racing industry with a goal of promoting fairness and integrity of the sport.

Office Closed on Friday, March 22nd

The Maine State Harness Racing Commission's Offices will be closed on Friday, March 22, 2019, while the offices are moved from the Marquardt Building back to Deering Building next door. There will be no walk in service available on March 22.

As we patiently await live harness racing to resume on March 30th at Scarborough Downs, a reminder that you can keep the harness racing spirit alive by visiting any of Maine’s six OTBs which are open year-round!

2019 Harness Racing Summit Summary Available

On January 30, 2019, the Maine Harness Horsemen’s Association and the Maine Harness Racing Commission cosponsored an industry-wide planning/brainstorming conference at the Buker Community Center in Augusta, Maine. The conference was conceived by the Maine Harness Horsemen’s Association and was intended to identify—and build consensus around—strategies to improve the long-term economic viability of harness racing in the state.
