On January 30, 2019, the Maine Harness Horsemen’s Association and the Maine Harness Racing Commission cosponsored an industry-wide planning/brainstorming conference at the Buker Community Center in Augusta, Maine. The conference was conceived by the Maine Harness Horsemen’s Association and was intended to identify—and build consensus around—strategies to improve the long-term economic viability of harness racing in the state.
