10.4.B Merit Increase in Temporary Compensation

Reference: Human Resource Memorandum 2-89, 01/18/89

When a State employee who holds a status position (with a performance/salary review date) is assigned to another classification on a temporary compensation basis, and his or her salary review date falls during the period of temporary compensation, he or she also receives a merit increase in the temporary compensation.

If an employee in temporary compensation promotes into the temporary position while serving in temporary compensation, but the application of the 5% Rule places the employee below the salary step held while in temporary compensation, the employee’s salary should be adjusted to the salary step held while in temporary compensation.
