2012-2013 Candidate Support for National Board Certification. Announcing Candidate Fee Subsidies Available for the 2012-2013 Candidate Cycle
What is National Board Certification? This rigorous, research-based professional development opportunity is part of a national effort to reach goals established by the National Commission on Teaching and America’s Future. The National Board Certification process is for teachers with three or more years’ experience and is voluntary. National Board Certification is one of the highest honors that is bestowed by the teaching profession and is a symbol of commitment to accomplished teaching. Those who wish to learn more about the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards and the National Board Certification process should visit the NBPTS web site www.nbpts.org. What is the Take One! program? The Take One! program is a shorter version of the full certification process. This process can be done by individuals or entire facilities. Because this process is open to principals as well, this is an excellent professional development opportunity that supports the culture of a professional learning community. For more information about this program please visit:
What incentives are available to Maine’s teachers? For more information about incentives that may be available across the state please visit:
The Maine Education Association provides a formal support program for National Board candidates.
