Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap and AAA Northern New England Expand Public Private Partnership
Ribbon cutting ceremony held to celebrate expansion of services to AAA branch offices.
AUGUSTA – Last year, the Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles, AAA Northern New England and the Information Resource of Maine (InForME) partnered to begin offering basic driver license and state identification card renewal and replacement services at select AAA branch offices. As of March 13th area residents in Ellsworth, Brunswick, Auburn, South Portland and Biddeford can now count on improved availability of motor vehicle license and state identification card renewal and replacement service options.
Secretary of State Matt Dunlap and AAA Northern New England held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, March 13th at the Bangor AAA branch office to mark the expansion of services to the remaining AAA locations.
Since the inception of the partnership, AAA has successfully processed 3,100 credentials for Maine residents, said Secretary Dunlap. Thats a number that we expect is only going to get better with the expansion of services to the final five AAA offices.
Basic driver license and state identification card renewal and replacement services are now accessible at AAA locations in Waterville, Augusta, Bangor, Ellsworth, Brunswick, Auburn, South Portland and Biddeford. Both AAA members and the general public may use the renewal and replacement services at AAA; however, this option is only available to US citizens. AAA branch office business hours are Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm and Saturdays from 9:00am to 1:00pm. It is important to note that AAA branch offices are only equipped to basic renewals and will not be able to make changes to current credentials.
Great customer service is a top priority for us, and this partnership with AAA Northern New England will help us meet that objective, said Secretary of State Dunlap. This arrangement will extend our presence through a private sector mainstay that is recognized and trusted by the public at no additional cost to the citizen.
