In order to drill a new well at a manufactured housing community or to expand or upgrade existing well infrastructure, operators must receive approval both before and after construction.
Before construction begins, community operators must first get preliminary approval from the Manufactured Housing Program. Fill out the Preliminary Well Approval form (PDF) and email the completed form to Helen Tutwiler at helen.m.tutwiler@maine.gov. Work should not begin until your plan is approved in writing, which may take up to 30 days.
After construction is complete, final approval is required to begin operating the new or upgraded well infrastructure. This approval is contingent on water quality tests outlined in the form below. Fill out the Final Well Approval form (PDF) and email the completed form to Helen Tutwiler at helen.m.tutwiler@maine.gov. Please allow an additional 30 days for us to process your final approval request.
