How Is The Maine Wildlife Park Funded?
The Maine Wildlife Park is owned and operated by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, (MDIFW) and is a part of the Division of Information and Education.
The Maine Wildlife Park operates primarily from revenue generated by admission fees, as well as income from the Nature Store, feed machines and direct donations. The park is very dependent upon volunteers, the Friends of the Maine Wildlife Park organization, and local businesses.
The Park continues to receive 'in kind' services from a variety of Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife staff and resources, as well as funding from grants channeled through and from MDIFW.
The Friends of the Maine Wildlife Park, a nonprofit 501C3 organization, supports a variety of wildlife park activities, new wildlife exhibits and displays through fund raising projects of its own. Donations can be made directly to the Friends at: PO BOX 1231, Gray, ME 04039 or online.
