Home heating and weatherization resources

Representative id

Summer is still in full swing, and we've seen record temperatures in recent weeks. However, we know that the cold weather will return soon enough. I've heard from a few people recently about their concerns for keeping their homes warm this winter. Fortunately, there are resources available for those who need assistance.

Waldo Community Action Partners (WCAP) Home Energy Assistance Program helps qualified homeowners and renters pay for heating costs. The approval process can take some time, so I encourage you to apply as early as possible.

The Legislature has completed its work for the 2020-2022 term, and, while there is much to report, there is one item I want to be sure Waldo County residents know about.

Recognizing that Mainers are struggling with rising prices and the lingering strain from the pandemic, my colleagues and I passed legislation to send revenue dollars directly to you. This will come in the form of $850 checks, which will be mailed to over 850,000 tax filers starting in June.

AUGUSTA - A bipartisan group of 50 Maine lawmakers today sent Massachusetts Gov. On November 2, an overwhelming majority of Maine voters approved a referendum that bans construction of a transmission line such as the NECEC in the Upper Kennebec Region in Maine.

Broadband and Maine

I recently finished reading an interesting book that was sent to me and fellow members of the Legislature's Energy, Utilities and Technology (EUT) Committee by a concerned Maine resident. She sent this book to us at her own cost to share with us how other communities have implemented high speed internet and how that implementation has grown their economies and bettered their communities.
