Boyle is sworn into the Maine House of Representatives

AUGUSTA - Rep. Jim Boyle, D-Gorham, was sworn into office on Tuesday by Gov. Janet Mills after winning a special election on January 11, 2022. Boyle now serves House District 27, the seat previously held by Rep. Kyle Bailey, who resigned in October.

"It's great to be back in the State House," said Boyle. "I am thankful to the people of Gorham and Scarborough for going to the polls in freezing temperatures last Tuesday and giving me the honor of representing them in the Maine House of Representatives. I look forward to getting to work."

Legislature advances Boyle bill to require decommissioning plans for battery storage facilities

AUGUSTA - After a unanimous vote on Tuesday in the Maine House of Representatives, the Maine Senate voted Wednesday to advance legislation sponsored by Rep. Jim Boyle, D-Gorham, that would require battery storage facility developers of projects that are two megawatts or more to establish a decommissioning plan for the end of the project's useful life.

House Democrats introduce legislation to invest in Maine's clean energy transition

AUGUSTA - The climate crisis continues to pose a significant threat to Maine and the world. To help further Maine's transition to clean energy, House Democrats have recently unveiled several pieces of legislation to weatherize existing infrastructure, help implement green building standards for new construction and transition to clean energy without creating additional waste.

Collectively, the measures will help Maine reduce its reliance on fossil fuels, lower energy costs and improve energy independence.
