Committee approves Murphy bill to increase access to electric breast pumps under MaineCare

AUGUSTA - A majority of the Legislature's Health and Human Services Committee voted last Thursday to move forward LD 603, An Act to Make Electric Breast Pumps More Accessible by Providing for MaineCare Reimbursement. The bill is sponsored by Rep. Kelly Noonan Murphy, D-Scarborough.

The bill would allow eligible MaineCare recipients to obtain electric breast pumps or supplies without prior authorization or limitations when prescribed or recommended by a physician.

AUGUSTA - Rep. Kelly Noonan Murphy, D-Scarborough, presented LD 603, An Act to Make Electric Breast Pumps More Accessible by Providing for MaineCare Reimbursement, before the Legislature's Health and Human Services Committee on Wednesday.

The bill would require Maine's Medicaid program, commonly known as MaineCare, to reimburse eligible receipts for electric breast pumps and supplies without prior authorization or limitation when recommended or prescribed by a physician.

Taxation Committee approves Murphy bill to create a sales tax exemption for diapers

AUGUSTA - A majority of the Legislature's Taxation Committee voted Thursday to move forward LD 287, An Act to Support Parents by Providing a Sales Tax Exemption for Diapers. The bill is sponsored by Rep. Kelly Noonan Murphy, D-Scarborough.

The bill was amended to include diaper accessories such as covers and pins and clarifies that the exemption is limited to the purchase of children's diapers.

House District

Rep. Kelly Noonan Murphy is serving her second term in the Maine House of Representatives. She is the House chair of the Education and Cultural Affairs Committee. 

Murphy is a Scarborough native and is honored to represent her community in the Maine House. She works as a school-based behavioral healthcare professional and is a 1:1 educational technician in a special education preschool program.
