• Compare labels and warning symbols
• Choose a product that is specific to the problem
• Buy only what you need
• Buy pre-mixed and ready to use products
• Buy gel, bait or paste formulations
• Spot treat only--avoid broadcast applications
• Avoid combination products that contain fertilizer and pesticide like "weed & feed"
• Wear protective clothing (mask, goggles and gloves)
• Never spray when it's windy
• Never pour pesticides down your drain
• Never re-use pesticide containers
• Never put pesticides in food containers
