Position Available: Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator
Location
MCC Office: 54 Independence Drive, Augusta, ME 04330.
Time requirements
- Minimum 1 year commitment
- 40+ hours a week
- Monday-Friday during training and orientation weeks, with some weekend hours possible
Position Summary
The Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator plays a key role in advancing the mission of the Maine Conservation Corps by strengthening volunteer engagement, expanding outreach efforts, and enhancing public awareness of MCC programs. This position is responsible for developing and implementing effective volunteer management practices, coordinating events, supporting communications, and fostering relationships with partners, alumni, and the broader community.
Key Responsibilities:
Volunteer Management & Program Support
- Ensure implementation of best practices in volunteer recruitment, engagement, and recognition
- Support the development and implementation of volunteer management plans
- Collect, analyze, and maintain data on volunteer participation and outcomes
- Conduct trainings for staff and program leaders on effective volunteer engagement and management
Event Coordination & Outreach
- Plan, organize, and coordinate volunteer events, service projects, and outreach activities
- Manage and maintain the MCC event calendar to ensure alignment and visibility across programs
- Represent MCC at career fairs, community events, and outreach opportunities
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders
Communications & Content Development
- Create and manage content for MCC's social media platforms, website, and promotional materials
- Coordinate and produce the regular MCC newsletter, including content gathering, writing, and distribution
- Support storytelling and public engagement efforts to highlight MCCs impact and opportunities
Alumni Relations
- Assist the Director in developing and maintaining alumni engagement strategies
- Support outreach initiatives to strengthen connections with MCC alumni
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Must submit to criminal history check
- Must be approved to drive State vehicles by the Risk Management Division (clean driving record)
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in volunteer coordination, outreach, communications, or related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Familiarity with social media platforms, content creation, and digital communication strategies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with conservation, environmental, or service-based programs
- Knowledge of volunteer management software or CRM systems
- Experience with data tracking and reporting
- Bachelors degree in a relevant field (e.g., communications, environmental studies, nonprofit management, or related discipline)
Work Environment & Expectations
- Combination of office-based work and field/event participation
- Ability to travel within the state as needed

- Weekly salary of $880-$960 per week based on the number of years of relevant experience (less taxes)
