Wildfire Awareness Week

Governor Mills has signed a declaration that the third full week in April will be "Wildfire Awareness Week." The purpose of this declaration is to reduce the amount of human-caused wildfires during the spring. Maine Forest Rangers urge people to use caution when burning brush. Please check the local fire weather conditions at www.mainefireweather.org and always get a burn permit before burning. Traditionally the third week of April is also April vacation. We also request that parents speak to their children about not playing with matches or lighters.
