Laws & RulesT he Bureau of Financial Institutions is responsible for the administration of Title 9-B M.R.S.A., the Maine Banking Code, and Title 9-A M.R.S.A., the Maine Consumer Credit Code, as they relate to finanancial institutions supervised by the Bureau. The publications of the Maine State Legislature are made available on the Internet as a public service and reliance on any such information is at the user’s own risk. Rules adopted pursuant to the Maine Banking Code (Title 9-B) including the commentary or basis statement for each rule, can be can be accessed at this site for information purposes only. A list of Official Rules adopted pursuant to the Maine Banking Code (Title 9-B) are available on the Secretary of State’s website under 02 029 Bureau of Financial Institutions ( formerly Bureau of Banking ). Rules adopted pursuant to the Maine Consumer Credit Code (Title 9-A) are available on the Secretary of State’s website under 02 030 Bueau of Consumer Credit Protection. Rules issued under the Maine Consumer Credit Code (Title 9-A) are enforced by the Bureau of Financial Institutions for financial institutions. Proposed Rules are issued under the Maine Banking Code and are located on the Bureau’s web page. Bulletins are issued under the Maine Banking Code and are located on the Bureau’s web page. Advisory Rulings are issued under the Maine Consumer Credit Code and are located on the Bureau of Consumer Credit Protection’s website.
