Immigrant Workforce Committee

The Immigrant Workforce Subcommittee was established by the State Workforce Board in 2020 to identify issues and best practices regarding the recruitment, retention and employment of immigrants in Maine and develop strategies to meet the needs of immigrant workers and Maine employers.

In 2019, Governor Mills released Maine's ten-year strategic economic development plan focused on promoting innovation and attracting talent. The third goal outlined in the plan, attracting 75,000 people to Maine's talent pool, includes a specific action item focused on integrating Maine's immigrant communities into the workforce. The State Workforce Board (SWB) has been charged with developing strategies that will achieve the goals laid out in Maine's ten-year strategic economic development plan.
