National Emergency Grants Bookmark and Share

On Tuesday, the U.S. Labor Department awarded two National Emergency Grants to the Maine Department of Labor, one in the amount of $430,417 to provide services at two locations of the Standard Insurance Co. in Portland and South Portland and another of up to $2,066,981 with $851,120 released initially for RR Donnelley in Wells. These funds will assist approximately 65 workers affected by the May 2009 layoffs in Portland and South Portland and approximately 300 workers affected by 2009 layoffs from RR Donnelley in Wells. Both grants will be operated by Coastal Counties Workforce Inc. This grant is funded by resources made available for National Emergency Grants under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. National Emergency Grants are part of the Secretary of Labor?s discretionary fund and are awarded based on a state?s ability to meet specific guidelines.
