AUGUSTA --- The Northern Kennebec Valley CareerCenter is showcasing its new location and co-sponsoring the Central Maine Career Expo at the Alfond Campus of Kennebec Valley Community College, located at 23 Stanley Rd. in Hinckley. The open house runs 1 to 3 p.m. inside the Averill Building on Tuesday, November 13. The Central Maine Career Expo happens on Thursday, November 15, at the Alfond Recreation Center, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Access a list of employers from www.mainecareercenter.gov under "Job Fairs".

"Job seekers that go to a Maine CareerCenter can access information and no-cost services to help them find a new or better job," said Governor Paul R. LePage. "Employers need a skilled workforce now and in the future. Our unemployment rate has been historically low for 34 straight months and our employment-to-population ratio is consistently above the national average. This is an opportune time to find a job or develop skills to further your career. Maine CareerCenters will help."

Employers and job seekers are invited to tour the CareerCenter during the open house and learn about available no-cost resources through the Department of Labor.

The Central Maine Career Expo is open to the public and offers more than 20 exhibitors. All are seeking qualified employees to fill current positions. Job seekers are encouraged to dress appropriately, bring a current resume, and be prepared to interview. The Central Maine Career Expo is held in partnership with Central Maine Growth Council, Jobs for Maine Graduates, Kennebec Valley Community College, and the Maine Dept. Labor (Northern Kennebec Valley CareerCenter).

CareerCenters, part of the Maine Department of Labor, offer a variety of services to help people find employment or upgrade skills. Each center provides several public-access computer workstations with Microsoft Office software, resume writing and cover letter software, Internet access and O’Net software for skills assessment.
