ROCKLAND - The Rockland CareerCenter, part of the Maine Department of Labor, and in conjunction with its partners offer a variety of services to help people find employment or upgrade skills and employers to find qualified workers.
"I urge those looking for careers in this tight labor market to visit any CareerCenter," stated Governor Paul R. LePage. "They provide resources and services that will assist you in improving your resume and preparing for job interviews."
The following services are free to the public and available at the CareerCenter. All require pre-registration or an individual appointment made in person or by phone at 596-2600 unless otherwise noted.
Business Start-Up Planning - Tuesday, September 11, 1 to 3 p.m.
Thinking of starting your own business? This class will provide information about writing a business plan, and will connect you with helpful resources. Please call to reserve a seat, 596-2600.
Career Directions - By Appointment
Explore your career interests, aptitudes, values, personality, and motivations, and see how they connect to today's job market.
Resume and Cover Letter Writing - By Appointment

To learn about no-cost services including Hiring Assistance and Training Workers, and for help with Labor Law, Layoffs, and Workplace Health and Safety, employers should call the main office number at 596-2600.

New Ventures Maine offers no-cost classes in Assertive Communication, Creating Your Future, Creating the Rest of Your Life, Credit Yourself, Entrepreneurial Training, Financing Your Future, Professional Development and Mature Worker Activities. CareerCenters, part of the Maine Department of Labor, offer a variety of services to help people find employment or upgrade skills. Each center provides several public-access computer workstations with Microsoft Office software, resume writing and cover letter software, Internet access and O'Net software for skills assessment. All CareerCenter services are free of charge.
