August 4, 2009

The Maine Department of Labor is partnering with the Maine Educational Opportunity Center (MEOC) to offer a series of informational sessions for unemployed and laid-off workers interested in enrolling in post-secondary education or training.

The series will help participants learn about financial aid and grant resources available to help them upgrade their skills.

Six regional events are planned in addition to workshops and webinars at CareerCenter locations around the state. A full schedule of workshops can be found online at: http://meoc.maine.edu .

The Maine Educational Opportunity Center (MEOC) is a community service program providing postsecondary educational planning information and assistance to adults of a low-income and/or first generation background. The group is working to increase the number of adults attending college by providing quality admissions, financial aid and career exploration counseling.

Additional resources for unemployed workers considering education and training can be found online at: www.mainecareercenter.com/opportunity.
