More than 140 Employers Hiring August 29 at Augusta Armory Bookmark and Share

AUGUSTA? More than 140 employers of various sizes, industries and parts of Maine are gathering on August 29 at the Augusta Armory to recruit applicants for job openings. The hiring fair runs from 9 a.m. to noon at 179 Western Avenue in Augusta and follows the 2017 Maine Hire-A-Vet kick-off event at 8:30 a.m. The hiring fair has free parking and is open to the public; employers want to meet civilians, veterans and military family members. ?Maine CareerCenters around the state are hosting or partnering on many job fairs and recruiting events,? said Governor Paul R. LePage. ?These give you the opportunity to meet employers face-to-face and make a strong first impression. CareerCenters can help you prepare for these events with workshops and other support, including computers to update and print your resume. Contact your closest CareerCenter for assistance or attend the job fair to connect with businesses that are hiring.?

CareerCenters, part of the Maine Department of Labor, offer a variety of services to help people find employment or upgrade skills. Each center provides several public-access computer workstations with Microsoft Office software, resume writing and cover letter software, Internet access and O?Net software for skills assessment. All CareerCenter services are free of charge.
