SPRINGVALE—The York County CareerCenter in Springvale continues its workshop programs for job seekers and those considering training to upgrade their skills and increase their employability.
“In our tightening labor market, Maine CareerCenters provide the tools and resources to better connect job seekers and employers,” said Governor Paul R. LePage. “Workshops and one-on-one consultations facilitated by the their career consultants can provide job seekers a path to education or jobs. Employers will find information and connections to employment and training resources that can help serve immediate or forecasted workforce needs. CareerCenters can assist businesses by offering workshops on location, at local businesses or other organizations at no cost. The following workshops and programs will be held at the CareerCenter in Springvale unless otherwise noted.
Essentials of College Planning Workshop – Mondays, June 5, 12, 19 and 26, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A FREE interactive workshop that outlines the four steps in the college process: admissions, financial aid, career planning, and study skills. The workshop lasts approximately two or three hours. Resume and Interview Coaching – Monday, June 19, 9 a.m. to noon
Your resume is your marketing tool that helps you land the all-important interview. Join us and learn the do’s and don’ts of resume writing and how to stand out in a positive way. Career Exploration Workshop – Friday, June 23
This extensive and informative workshop will be offered to Vocational Rehabilitation Clients at the York County CareerCenter. VR clients will be able to explore a variety of career paths, and research the required skills needed for these careers. Registration through Vocational Rehabilitation is required. Please call 822-3300 and ask for Vocational Rehabilitation to register.
Monthly Job Fair at the CareerCenter – Monday, June 26, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Explore your next employment opportunity. Representatives from several companies will be here interviewing for current openings. Federal Employment Workshop – Thursday June 29 and Friday June 30, 9 a.m. to Noon

Join us for an in-depth workshop designed to cover nearly every aspect of the updated USAJobs website, and federal job postings. This, instructor led, training will guided each attendee through the actual USAJobs website, on your personal laptop or one of our computers. This step-by-step workshop will cover: establishing a USAJobs account, reviewing job postings; identifying qualifications and requirements, a three part process for writing, building, or tailoring a federal resume, Veteran preference and more. Competitive Skills Scholarship Program - The Competitive Skills Scholarship helps workers learn new skills and succeed in a changing economy. The program is open to all qualified Maine residents and pays for education and training for high-wage jobs in demand in Maine. York County is currently accepting applications for the program.
