Forum Highlights Migrant and Seasonal Worker Issues

Maine employers and worker advocates are expected at next week?s Migrant and Seasonal Worker Forum in Brewer. The annual event will be held on April 29 at Jeff?s Catering in Brewer.
Bureau of Labor Standards Director, William Peabody will highlight legislative proposals concerning the safety of forestry and contracted farm workers. George Kincannon, Regional Monitor Advocate for the US Department of Labor will discuss requirements for services to farm workers.
Representatives from the U.S. Census will discuss outreach strategies to ensure migrant and foreign-born workers are counted in the upcoming Census survey.
Logging employers will also have the opportunity to participate in an afternoon workshop on the H-2A visa program application process and procedural rules.
