SPRINGVALE?The York County CareerCenter in Springvale continues its workshop programs for job seekers and those considering training to upgrade their skills and increase their employability.

?As falls starts, we start thinking about education and new opportunities,? said Governor Paul R. LePage. ?You might be thinking about getting more education or training to advance your career or making a change from a seasonal to a year round job. Our CareerCenters can help you look at all of your options and connect you with resources and employers. All of their advice and services are provided at no cost to Maine residents.?

CareerCenters can assist businesses by offering workshops on location, at local businesses or other organizations at no cost. The following workshops and programs will be held at the CareerCenter in Springvale unless otherwise noted.

Essentials of College Planning Workshop ? Mondays, September 12 and 26, 10 a.m. to noon

A FREE interactive workshop that outlines the four steps in the college process: admissions, financial aid, career planning, and study skills. The workshop lasts approximately two or three hours. Job Fair at the 12th Annual Business Expo ? Wednesday, September 14, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., XL Sports World, 400 North Street, Saco, Maine.

A Job Fair Open to the Public will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; Business to Business Networking will be from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.; and the Business Expo, which is open to the public, will run from 4:30 to 7 p.m. For a list of participating employers please check the Maine CareerCenter website at job fair page at http://www.mainecareercenter.com/employment/jobfairs.shtml .

CoWorx, and MASIS ? Will be recruiting at the York County CareerCenter from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, September 12 and 19.

Competitive Skills Scholarship Program - The Competitive Skills Scholarship helps workers learn new skills and succeed in a changing economy. The program is open to all qualified Maine residents and pays for education and training for high-wage jobs in demand in Maine. York County is currently accepting applications for the program.
