Twenty-five employers will be ready to meet with Portland's job seekers

PORTLAND??The Portland CareerCenter, at 185 Lancaster Street, will host a job fair from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2014. The event offers job seekers opportunities to meet face-to-face with employers hiring for the Greater Portland area.

"Job seeking is a full-time activity, but you don't have to go it alone," said Governor Paul R. LePage. "Along with the services at the CareerCenters, there are several resource providers available in your community for training, education, volunteerism and more. Sometimes all we need is a hand up, and the Portland CareerCenter Job Fair is a good place to start."

Employers include Bath Iron Works, Sears?South Portland, Lowe's?Windham, Paradigm Window Solutions, U.S. Cellular, Lawn Dawg, Goodwill, Hospice of Southern Maine, Department of Health and Human Services, Unified Parking Solutions, Time Warner Cable, Maine Department of Corrections, Whole Foods, Great Falls Marketing, UPS, Homecare for Maine, Community Partners, Saint Joseph's Rehabilitation, Dr. Newton's Naturals, Green Clean Maine, Frosty?s Donuts, Prime Electric Motors, Spurwink and Westin Harborview Hotel.

Attendees are encouraged to car pool and to use the parking lots on Lancaster and Chestnut streets as well as area parking lots.

Job seekers should come dressed for a job interview with several copies of their resume and be prepared to have an interview-like conversation with employers.
