Technology Mini Job Fair at the Augusta CareerCenter February 4 for Veterans and Public Bookmark and Share

AUGUSTA?The Augusta CareerCenter, part of the Maine Department of Labor, will be hosting a mini job fair on Tuesday, February 4, focused on hiring for technology jobs for the State?s Office of Information Technology (OIT). Kelly Services will also be hiring at the CareerCenter that day.

?Our falling unemployment rate is a strong indicator of our improving economy,? said Governor Paul R. LePage. ?Now is a good time to use CareerCenter services to make sure that your resume rises to the top of the hiring manager?s list. Our staff can give you a fresh perspective and solid advice on your job search and career options.?

The technology mini job fair will have exclusive hours for veterans from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and then will be open to the general public from noon to 3 p.m.

Kelly Services will be hiring from 8:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for seasonal packers, material handlers, and warehouse workers in the Skowhegan, Norridgewock and Madison areas. Applicants should bring a resume with eight years of work history listed, two professional references and be prepared to interview.

Essentials of College Planning & Financial Aid? Fridays, Feb. 14 and 28; 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Covers the basic steps for successful college enrollment: learn about college and trade schools, entrance requirements, readiness and transitional issues of adult students, admissions procedures and financial aid. Review a typical admissions application, request admissions materials and financial aid information from prospective colleges and complete the financial aid form. Resume Writing and Interview Skills Workshop?The Wednesday, Feb. 19 workshop combines Resume Writing and Interview Skills into one session: 9 a.m. to noon. An in-depth exploration of job search, resumes, applications and interviews. Learn how to stand out in a positive way by marketing yourself?in person and on paper?in a way that directly matches employer needs. ?Tough? interview questions will be discussed so that you can answer them with confidence. Veterans' Networking Group?Join us and meet fellow veterans. Discuss interesting monthly topics, share ideas and network with others.
