CareerCenter holds second fall job fair due to local hiring demand
LEWISTON?The Lewiston CareerCenter is hosting its second fall Job Fair on Friday, October 4, 2013, from 9 a.m. to noon at its building on 5 Mollison Way, Lewiston. Thirty employers will be hiring.
?Strong hiring demand in the Lewiston-Auburn area is good news for Androscoggin County and indicates positive economic news for the state,? said Governor Paul R. LePage. ?We have seen ?help wanted? signs going up all over, so this job fair promises to offer good opportunities from great businesses.?
Employers include National ABLE, Adecco, Androscoggin Learning & Transition Center, Argo Marketing, Assistance Plus, Becket Family of Services, Carr Management/Maine Container, Cianbro, Formed Fiber Technology, Full Circle Support, General Dynamics, Jackson Hewitt Tax, Kelly Services, Kennebec Sheriff's Department, Liberty Mutual Insurance, Maine Revenue Service, Manpower, Maine National Guard, O'Reilly Auto Parts, Project Staffing, RGIS, State of Maine Human Resources, State of Maine Department of Corrections, TDBank, the Progress Center, U.S. Army, Women Unlimited, Woodford Family Services and Xerox.
Attendees should bring a resume and, more important, should be prepared to have an ?interview-like? conversation with employers to discuss skills, knowledge areas and abilities. Job seekers should also be dressed for an interview.
Interpreters are available but requests should be made in advance to the CareerCenter.
CareerCenters, part of the Maine Department of Labor, offer a variety of workshops and services to help people find employment or upgrade skills. Each center provides several public-access computer workstations with Microsoft Office software, resume writing and cover letter software, Internet access and O?Net software for skills assessment. All CareerCenter services are free of charge.
