Fall into a new job
LEWISTON?The Lewiston CareerCenter is hosting a Job Fair on Thursday, September 5, 2013, from 9 a.m. to noon at its building on 5 Mollison Way, Lewiston. Forty employers will be hiring.
?Now is a great time to look for a job,? said Governor Paul R. LePage. ?We have seen ?help wanted? signs going up all over the state. I encourage anyone thinking of changing careers or getting a better job to come out and talk to these employers. This fair will help people learn about the good jobs the Androscoggin County area has to offer.?
Employers include Adecco, Argo Marketing, Assistance Plus, Bonney Staffing, Carbonite, Care and Comfort, Great Falls Marketing, Harvest Hill Farms, Home Resources of ME, Kelly Services, Living Innovations, Maine Community Health Options, Maine Staffing, MAS Home Care, Merrymeeting Behavioral Health Care, M?lnlycke-Rynel Health Care, NAMI Maine Family Respite Program, New Balance, Notify MD, O?Reilly Auto Parts, State of Maine Office of Child and Family Services, Superior Carriers, Support Solutions, Spurwink School, Time Warner Cable, U.S. Cellular, Veterans? Inc., Wal-Mart and Xerox.
Attendees should bring a resume and, more important, should be prepared to have an ?interview-like? conversation with employers to discuss skills, knowledge areas and abilities. Job seekers should also be dressed for an interview.
Interpreters are available but requests should be made in advance to the CareerCenter.
CareerCenters, part of the Maine Department of Labor, offer a variety of workshops and services to help people find employment or upgrade skills. Each center provides several public-access computer workstations with Microsoft Office software, resume writing and cover letter software, Internet access and O?Net software for skills assessment. All CareerCenter services are free of charge.
