BAGNOR?The Bangor CareerCenter announces August programming for job seekers in the Tri- County area and those who are considering training to upgrade their skills to increase their employability.

?There will be several jobs fairs held across the state this fall,? said Governor Paul R. LePage. ?August is a great time to improve your resume and to prepare for those job fair interviews. CareerCenters can help both individuals who need a job and businesses that need to hire workers.?

The following workshops and programs are free to the public and will be held at the CareerCenter unless otherwise noted. Maine Veterans receive priority of service in all CareerCenter programs.

Charlotte White Center will be at the CareerCenter on Wednesday August 7, 2013 to conduct two informational sessions. Charlotte White is currently recruiting Day Treatment Case Aides, MH Residential Staff, and Therapeutic Specialists. Interested parties should call the CareerCenter at 207-561-4050 to sign up for either the 11 a.m. to noon session or 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. session.

FedEx will be at the Bangor CareerCenter on August 23, September 6, and October 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. FedEx is currently recruiting temporary drivers.

Care & Comfort will be holding two recruitment events at the CareerCenter, Thursday, August 22 and Thursday, September 19. Both recruitments will be from 9 a.m. to noon. Care and Comfort has several openings within their company. For the two upcoming recruitments they are focusing on Community Support Workers (CSW). GateWay To Employment?Bangor, Mondays 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Ellsworth, Wednesdays 1 to 4 p.m. at the EMDC office (call for seating as space is limited, 610-1521); Dover, first and third Tuesday of the month, 1 to 4 p.m. at the EMDC office. Gateway to Employment gives a great overview of basic information on Resumes, Interviews and Job Search Skills as well as CareerCenter and Community Services that are available to you during your job search.

Computer Club- Every Tuesday, 8 to 9 a.m. This will be a very interactive class with the instructor explaining the different parts of a computer and then doing a series of exercises to learn how to use the tools. Topics covered: computer components, drives, mouse, keyboard, using a mouse, radio buttons, arrow/finger/text, navigating the Internet, using search engines, and different types of media storage. Computer BootCamp? Computer Boot Camp is specifically for customers who have very limited, if any computer skills. Each customer will have a lap-top computer to use during each class. There will be a series of four workshops every month, each an hour and a half long. At the beginning of each month we will begin with Workshop 1; the next week Workshop 2 and so forth. We can have as many as eight customers in each workshop. Our goal is that anyone who goes through

Workshop 1 to 4 will be ?comfortable? using a computer and can access what they need to assist them in finding employment in the CareerCenter Information Center. By the end of the four workshops each customer will understand the parts of a computer & keyboard and be able to use the internet, be registered with Maine?s Job Bank (MJB) and have an active e-mail account & be able to open and send e-mails.

Workshop Week 1: Topics covered will include parts of the computer/laptop, the keyboard, using the mouse, search engines and the basics of using the internet.
Workshop Week 2: E-Mail. The importance of an active e-mail address for those seeking and applying for employment. During the class students will get registered for an e-mail address and learn to send and receive e-mail. Workshop Week 3: Session three will cover registering for & using Maine?s Job Bank. During the class students will register for MJB and learn to navigate the site including: maintaining & editing your account, searching for jobs, accepting referrals and changing/editing their information and job search profile. Workshop Week 4: Students will learn about completing online applications. All students will receive our center web site list. Finally students will be brought to the Information Center and we will make sure they can log-in and access their e-mail & MJB.
Interviewing Workshop? Fourth Tuesday of each month, 9 a.m. to noon. This will be an interactive workshop which includes preparing for an interview, talking about first impressions, going over different types of interviews and interview questions, and the follow up thank you letters. Resume Workshop?First and third Tuesday of each month, 9 a.m. to noon. Learn how to use key words and phrases to catch an employer's attention. To provide information and tools you need to successfully create your own resume. Discover websites that identify skills and abilities for different types of jobs. Acquire information to produce the resume that will work for you. This workshop is open to everyone. Limit 20 slots per session. CareerCenter Services in Ellsworth - A CareerCenter consultant visits Ellsworth every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon to meet with customers by appointment. Location: Eastern Maine Development Corp. (EMDC), Ellsworth Higher Education Center, Mill Mall in Ellsworth. GATEways to Employment workshops are held in Hancock County every Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the EMDC office, Mill Mall in Ellsworth.

CareerCenter Services in Sullivan: A CareerCenter Consultant visits Sullivan the first and third Thursday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon to meet with customers by appointment. CareerCenter Services in Dover-Foxcroft: - A CareerCenter consultant visits Dover-Foxcroft every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon. - GATEways to Employment workshops are held in Piscataquis County on the first and third Tuesday of the month at 4:40 p.m. The workshop is held at EMDC, Morton Avenue School, Dover-Foxcroft.

CareerCenter Services in Dexter?A CareerCenter Consultant will be visiting Dexter the first and third Friday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon.
