Lewiston CareerCenter helping people reach their new-year career goals

LEWISTON? For those who have resolved to begin 2013 with a better job, the Lewiston CareerCenter will hold two different Job Fairs in January at its building on 5 Mollison Way, Lewiston.

On Tuesday, Jan. 8, from 9 a.m. to noon, 35 employers will be recruiting for open positions. Employers registered to date include: Account Temps, Almighty Waste, Alternative Services, ARGO Marketing, Assistance Plus, Bates College, Bonney Staffing, Carbonite, Clover Health Care, Edward Jones, ESM, H & R Block, International Paper, Kelly Services, Lewiston Auburn 911, Lowe?s, Nestle Waters, New Balance, Manpower, MAS Home Care, North Country Associates, Notify MD, Schooner Estates, Spurwink Services, Support Solutions, TD Bank, T-Mobile, U.S. Navy, and VIP- LA Tire.

On Tuesday, Jan. 15, Oxford Casino and several other employers will be on hand at the Lewiston CareerCenter recruiting Veterans for their open positions. While the fair on the 15th is targeted to Veterans, the public is encouraged to attend.

For both job fairs, attendees should bring a resume and, more important, should be prepared to have an ?interview-like? conversation with employers to discuss skills, knowledge areas and abilities. Job seekers should also be dressed for an interview.

Interpreters are available upon request.

CareerCenters, part of the Maine Department of Labor, offer a variety of workshops and services to help people find employment or upgrade skills. Each center provides several public-access computer workstations with Microsoft Office software, resume writing and cover letter software, Internet access and O?Net software for skills assessment. All CareerCenter services are free of charge.
