York County CareerCenter continues its monthly workshop programs for job seekers

SPRINGVALE?The York County CareerCenter in Springvale continues its monthly workshop programs for job seekers and those considering training to upgrade their skills and increase their employability.
CareerCenters can assist businesses by offering workshops or sessions with service providers?on location at local businesses or other organizations?at no cost. The following workshops and programs will be held at the CareerCenter in Springvale unless otherwise noted.
York County Networking Group: Brown Bag Networking Fridays, Dec. 14 and Dec. 28 from noon?2 p.m. Take your job search to the next level by utilizing the power of Networking. Join your local York County Networking Group to meet other people, share strategies, tips and leads. Remember, it only takes one piece of information to lead you to your next opportunity. Bring a lunch and bring a friend! All are welcome. No reservation required.
Resum? Workshop?Tuesday, Dec. 4, 9 a.m.?noon. Explore the basics of resum? writing and learn how to promote the qualifications you have that directly match what the employer needs.
Complimentary Computer Boot Camp: A Three-Part Series?Friday, Dec. 7, 21 and 28, 9?11 a.m. This three-part series begins week one with computer basics, week two covers Internet and email basics and finishes up on week three with Microsoft Word basics. Join us for these interactive sessions. Space is limited, please call to reserve a seat.
York County Works: ?Change and Transition?Moving to New Employment?: Tuesday, Dec. 11, 9 a.m.?noon. Job loss is difficult anytime but can be especially hard during the holiday season. Please join us as we discuss strategies you can use to navigate your job search during the holidays. Please register in advance.
Interview Workshop?Tuesday, Dec. 18, 9 a.m.?noon. Learn new interviewing techniques by role playing interviews. Registration required.
GATEways to Employment?Thursday, Dec. 20, 9 a.m.?noon. Join us for the beginning installment of our ?workshop trilogy.? Learn how assessments can identify abilities, interests and skills and discover the unadvertised job market. Other topics include Job Search Strategies, Resume and Cover Letter Tips and Interviewing.
The York County CareerCenter will also feature several sessions led by partner organizations in December.
Project You?Thursday, Dec. 6, 9?11:30 a.m. For mature workers 50 and older: jumpstart your job search. Presented by Missy Ayotte and Clair Kavanaugh of Goodwill/Workforce Solutions. Please call to register at 370-3970.
Introduction to Blueprint Reading?This two-part workshop will be held Dec. 3 and 10, 8:30 a.m.?3 p.m. Those completing the course earn their 12 Hour NCCER Certificate. Call Women Unlimited at (800) 281-5259 to register.
OSHA 10: Basic Safety? This two-part workshop will be held Dec. 17 and 21, noon?5 p.m. This is a 10-hour OSHA-certified class. Students completing course will receive an OSHA card within four to six weeks. Call Women Unlimited to register at (800) 281-5259.
Essentials of College Planning?Monday, Dec. 26, 10 a.m. The Maine Educational Opportunity Center (MEOC) will host a free workshop for adults 19 and older covering topics on College Awareness and Planning along with the Federal Financial Aid process. The instructor will assist participants in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Springborn Staffing?Wednesday, Dec. 5. A Springborn representative will be recruiting at the York County CareerCenter in Springvale from 8?11 a.m. No reservation required.
Adecco Staffing?Every Thursday in November, an Adecco representative will be recruiting at the York County CareerCenter in Springvale from 10 a.m.?2 p.m. Current openings are with Poland Springs, Corning Life Sciences and GE. No reservation required.
Women Unlimited: Non-Traditional Occupations Specialist consultations for those interested in exploring non-traditional occupations (NTO) for women and who are considering a potentially better-paying job. Contact Sue LeClair, NTO specialist at (207) 215-6992.
Goodwill Workforce Solutions administers federally funded employment and training programs through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA). Certain eligibility requirements apply. If you think you might qualify or could benefit from this program please call the Workforce Solutions Center in Biddeford at 207-571-3301 to schedule a date for a training orientation.
Maine Centers for Women Work & Community offer no cost classes in Assertive Communication, Creating Your Future, Creating the Rest of Your Life, Credit Yourself, Entrepreneurial Training, Financing Your Future, Professional Development and Mature Worker Activities.
