Bangor? The Bangor CareerCenter is co-sponsoring a Career Fair on October 11, 2012, from 9 a.m.?3 p.m. The fair will be held at the Maine Army National Guard Flight Facility, 28 Hayes Street in Bangor. Maine?s first lady, Ann LePage, is scheduled to attend the event.

More than 60 employers, all of whom have job opportunities, will be on hand to recruit for their open positions. The entire list of registered employers is available on the CareerCenter?s website at www.mainecareercenter.com/employment/job-fairs/index.shtml .

?Job fairs are a great way for people to learn about many types of jobs in many different industries,? said Commissioner of Labor Jeanne Paquette. ?They are also a good opportunity to make a strong first impression with an employer.?

Employers representing the healthcare, banking, manufacturing, education, criminal justice, technology and other industries will be attending. A sample of employers recruiting at the fair includes: Adecco, Aerus, AFLAC, Augusta Electrical JATC, Bank of America, Blueberry Broadcasting, Bonney Staffing Center, Care & Comfort, Charlotte White Center, Cianbro, CMC Technology Group, Collabric, Downeast Horizons, Dupre Logistics, Eastern Maine Medical Center, FedEx Ground, Hollywood Casino, Insphere Insurance Solutions, the Jackson Laboratory, Kindred Health Care, MERT Enterprises, Inc., New Balance, Nexxlinx of Maine, OCE Document Printing, Promoworks, Townsquare Media, Verizon Wireless, VIP, Inc., Visalus, and Wyman?s of Maine.

Paquette added, ?It is great to see so many employers from several industries hiring at this year?s event. Getting people back to work is a priority for the LePage administration.?

The event will also feature about a dozen organizations that can assist job seekers or those considering changing careers in determining what careers are appropriate for them. These institutions will provide information on training and higher-education opportunities.

Attendees should bring a resume and, more important, should be prepared to have an ?interview-like? conversation with employers to discuss skills, knowledge areas and abilities. Job seekers should also be dressed for an interview.

The event is sponsored by the Bangor CareerCenter and the Maine Department of Labor, the Eastern Maine Development Corporation, the Maine Army National Guard and the Tri-County Workforce Investment Board.
