September Programs for Job Seekers at the Lewiston CareerCenter

Lewiston?The Lewiston CareerCenter announces September programming for job seekers and those who are considering training to upgrade their skills to increase their employability.
In addition to its training programs, the Lewiston CareerCenter assists employers in connecting with qualified job seekers. The CareerCenter will host a Job Fair on September 17, 2012 from 9 a.m.?noon. More than 30 employers will be recruiting for their open positions. Job seekers should come prepared with their resumes and dressed for a job interview. Spanish and Somali interpreters will be available.
Workshops of note, in addition to the CareerCenter?s regular programming:
Dollars and Sense: Budget Overhaul for Tough Times?September 11, 10 a.m.?noon. This two-hour workshop will discuss the basic components for building a budget including money tracking, categorizing expenses, ways to save and cut back and short-term financial goal setting. This workshop will be presented by Maine Centers for Women, Work and Community; to register, call Laurie at 753-6612.
Ask the HR Experts?September 6, 9 a.m.?noon. A panel of four human resource professionals will talk about resumes, applications, cover letters, interviews and the job search process from an HR perspective. Learn what HR professionals want?and do not want?to see and hear from applicants.
Expanding Your Professional Network on LinkedIn? Professional Networking Services?a Recruiters Perspective!?September 20, 9 a.m.?noon. Paul P. Mosley, president of Penobscot Executive Search, a recruiting and placement agency, will offer suggestions for making your profile more marketable and provide criteria for using groups. He will also discuss strategies for expanding your professional network to share ideas, updates and connections to network to maximize employment opportunities.

CareerCenters, part of the Maine Department of Labor, offer a variety of services to help people find employment or upgrade skills. Each center provides several public-access computer workstations with Microsoft Office software, resume writing and cover letter software, Internet access and O?Net software for skills assessment. All CareerCenter services are free of charge.
