AUGUSTA - A bill to investigate alternative uses for several dormant rail corridors in Maine, LD 1370, sponsored by Rep. Art Bell, D-Yarmouth, was signed into law last week by Gov. Janet Mills.
AUGUSTA - The Legislature gave unanimous initial approval Tuesday to a measure from Rep. Art Bell, D-Yarmouth, that would help determine the untapped potential of dormant rail corridors across the state.

As amended, LD 1814 will prohibit the sale or distribution of mercury-added light bulbs beginning on Jan. 1, 2026.

AUGUSTA - Rep. Art Bell, D-Yarmouth, introduced legislation last week at a public hearing before the Legislature's Transportation Committee that would authorize recreational use of the Berlin Subdivision Rail Corridor that runs from Portland to Auburn.

AUGUSTA - Rep. Art Bell, D-Yarmouth, introduced legislation Tuesday that would help to address the state's teacher shortage by allowing the Commissioner of Education, in certain circumstances, to waive or grant an extension for teaching requirements.
Rep. Art Bell, D-Yarmouth, welcomed Reverend Amanda Gerken-Nelson of St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Yarmouth to the State House on Tuesday, Feb. 28.
