Rep. Gramlich applauds climate action grant for Old Orchard Beach

AUGUSTA - On Friday, the Governor's Office of Policy Innovation and the Future announced that the Town of Old Orchard Beach was selected to receive a $33,500 Community Resilience Partnership Community Action Grant award from the state.

The funding will be used to complete energy audits of six municipal buildings and utilize recommendations to develop an energy efficiency implementation plan.

Gov. Janet Mills held a bill signing ceremony Wednesday for LD 239, a measure by Rep. Lori K. Gramlich, D-Old Orchard Beach, to name the Pink-edged Sulphur the state butterfly. Gramlich introduced the bill after hearing from Loranger Middle School students Oscar Stanton and Tate Graham with the idea.

House approves Gramlich state butterfly bill after lawmakers hear from Loranger Middle School students

AUGUSTA - The Maine House gave final approval Tuesday to a measure from Rep. Lori K. Gramlich, D-Old Orchard Beach, that would name the Pink-edged Sulphur the state butterfly. The bill was approved "under the hammer," or by unanimous consent.

Gramlich introduced the bill after she was contacted by students Oscar Stanton and Tate Graham last fall. The two fifth-graders at Loranger Middle School wrote to suggest the Legislature name a state butterfly.
