Rep. Cluchey applauds climate action grant for Bowdoinham

AUGUSTA - On Friday, the Governor's Office of Policy Innovation and the Future announced that the Town of Bowdoinham was selected to receive a $50,000 Community Resilience Partnership Community Action Grant award from the state.

The funding will be utilized for wetland restoration, living shoreline stabilization, revegetation for flood mitigation and site work to create Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) access on a 20-acre municipal parcel on Merrymeeting Bay.

Rep. Sally Cluchey, D-Bowdoinham, released the following statement applauding the funding:

"This grant will provide a major boost for Bowdoinham to take steps to improve the community's climate resilience, protect the health of our local environment and make outdoor recreation opportunities more accessible for all," said Cluchey. "Following the spring flooding damage in Sagadahoc County, this couldn't come at a better time. I'm grateful to the Mills Administration for their forward-thinking efforts on climate action and I look forward to continuing our work in the Legislature to protect Maine's natural resources for future generations."

This is the third round of funding announced for Community Action Grants. The program made awards to 53 communities this round, totaling $2.4 million. Statewide, 174 communities have joined the Community Resilience Partnership.

Cluchey is serving her first term in the Maine House and is a member of the Health Coverage, Insurance and Financial Services Committee and the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee. She represents the towns of Bowdoinham, Richmond, Perkins Island Township and part of Bowdoin.
