With over 400 treatment services listed on the site, the search tools at Treatment Connection® make it easy to find and contact local treatment providers. DHHS continues to work with agencies to add treatment services for substance use and mental health.

Emergency, Crisis, and Diversionary Services

This service refers to a set of support systems designed to address urgent situations and divert individuals from potential crises. These services typically include immediate intervention, assistance, and alternative pathways to prevent or mitigate the impact of emergencies or crises, to ensure safety and promote well-being.

Mental Health Inpatient

This residential service allows clients to get engaged in treatment needs and addresses psychiatric needs for return home. Services usually include intake and assessment, psychiatric evaluation, individual and group counseling, treatment planning with the team, and discharge planning for outpatient services.

Mental Health Outpatient

Mental Health Outpatient services provide services for adults. This level of care consists of less than 9 hours a week of services rendered in person. Services include group session, individual therapy, peer support, psychiatric services and use of motivational strategies to address overall holistic needs, allowing individuals to continue work, attend school or remain in their home structure.

Recovery Housing

This service provides housing in a safe environment from drug and alcohol to individuals who need to avoid triggering people, places or things. This structured environment time frame is addressed by the individual and their support, and usually lasts several months. While in this safe environment, individuals may receive a referral to outpatient services to help supplement their needs.

Self-Help & Peer Support

This service involves providing resources and activities for individuals to independently improve their well-being and personal growth, while also fostering a supportive community of peers facing similar challenges. This service encourages self-empowerment and mutual support through educational materials, peer networks, and group activities.

Substance Use Outpatient

Substance Use Outpatient services provide services for adults. This level of care consists of less than 9 hours a week or services rendered in person. Services include group session, individual therapy, peer support, psychiatric services and use of motivational strategies to address overall holistic needs, allowing individuals to continue work, attend school or remain in their home structure. This level of care also provides medication assisted treatment as needed, addressing the presenting addiction.

Substance Use Residential/Inpatient

This service includes residential services that are capable of managing complex cases. Services are rendered on a 24-hour basis and involve staff with experience in addiction treatment, mental health, general medicine and peer support. Services for medically monitored and medically managed care are addressed through appropriate assessment.

Suicide Prevention & Support

This service involves initiatives and resources dedicated to preventing suicide and providing assistance to individuals experiencing suicidal thoughts or behaviors. This service includes helplines, counseling, and educational programs that offer immediate support to those in crisis.

Telehealth

Telehealth - sometimes called telemedicine - is the use of electronic information and telecommunication technologies to provide care when you and the doctor are not in the same place at the same time. If you have a phone or a device with internet access, you already have everything you need to get medical care or services through telehealth - you may be able to:

  • Talk to your doctor live over the phone or video chat.

  • Send and receive messages from your doctor using chat messaging, email, secure messaging, and secure file exchange.

  • Use remote patient monitoring so your doctor can check on you at home. For example, you might use a device to gather ECG or other vitals to help your doctor stay informed on your progress.

How do I get started?

To search for substance use or mental health treatment, type your zip code into the location search bar on the Treatment Connection® home page and click the search button. You can also filter by:

Does it cost anything to use Treatment Connection?     

No, there is no cost to search for substance use and mental health services on Treatment Connection.

Can I get help using the platform? 

Yes. If you need help using the Treatment Connection platform or finding treatment, you can:

How do I contact a provider?

There are two ways to contact a provider.

  1. Call a provider using the phone number on the provider’s listing.
  2. Make a confidential request for information using the “Contact About Treatment” button on the provider’s listing.

Do I have to create an account on Treatment Connection to contact an agency?

No. When you choose the “Contact About Treatment” option on a provider’s listing, you can select “Contact Me,” where you will provide the email address or phone number where an agency can contact you.

Can I request information on a service for someone else?

Yes, you can search for and request information on a provider or facility for someone else.

Can I search for treatment in a language other than English?

Yes. Once you enter your zip code on the Treatment Connection homepage and search, there are several more filters on the lefthand sidebar, including “Languages Served.”

Is there a cost to list my agency on Treatment Connection®? 

No, but all agencies are required to go through a vetting process with the Maine Department of Health and Human Services. See the For Providers: How to Get Listed on Treatment Connection®tab for more information.
