In October of 2022, the Department began the process of establishing a Rate Determination Schedule for calendar year 2023, pursuant to P.L. 2021, Chapter 639. We outlined this process in an October 20, 2022, notice.
MaineCare is holding an online public meeting on November 30, 2022, to present draft rate models along with the rationales for the recommended models for Foster Care Comprehensive Health Assessment Services. The models will be posted online following the meeting, and the Department will accept written comments until December 15, 2022. The Department will respond in writing to comments with an explanation of whether and how the feedback was incorporated into the final rate determination.
The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is excited to announce the creation of a Service Locator Tool through vendor Bamboo Health that will improve how Maine residents access substance use and mental health treatment. Once implemented in Maine, the tool will be available through the following link: TreatmentConnection.com.
The federal deadline to implement the EVV requirements for Home Health providers delivering services under Section 40 and Hospice providers delivering services under Section 43 is January 1, 2023.
With these EVV deadlines quickly approaching, we continue to offer weekly provider and aggregator trainings and forums. All trainings and forums are online via Microsoft Teams.
MaineCare is issuing this guidance to nursing facilities regarding the process for facilities to request durable medical equipment (DME) and/or authorization for reimbursement to meet extra staffing needs for residents with bariatric care needs.
The state is now requiring that providers who fall under Sections 18, 20, 21, and 29 fill out a Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) Compliance Form. This will ensure that providers of HCBS waiver services are in compliance with applicable requirements for HCBS waiver settings.
MaineCare providers are prohibited from employing or contracting with people who have been excluded by the state or federal government.
Providers must screen all employees and contractors for exclusions and require their contractors to screen their staff for excluded individuals. Providers must screen all new potential employees prior to hire and should routinely screen all staff at set time intervals, e.g., annually, quarterly, etc.
