What's the Plan?

Maine Won’t Wait is Maine's four-year climate plan packed with actionable strategies and goals to emit less carbon, produce energy from renewable sources and protect our natural resources, communities and people from the effects of climate change.

""

On December 1, 2020 Maine released a comprehensive plan to confront climate change and the risks to our state. The goals of the 4-year plan are to: Reduce greenhouse gas emissions; Avoid the costs of inaction; Foster economic opportunity; and ensure climate action benefits all Maine people.

""

Goal 1: Reduce greenhouse gases. To prevent the worst effects of climate change, we must drastically reduce the “greenhouse gases” that are emitted from burning fossil fuel.

""

Goal 1: Reduce greenhouse gases by: using less energy in buildings and transportation. Target: 45% less emissions by 2030.
