Internet

Websites and social media are primary ways which the State communicates with its constituents and house many of the events, reports and information on which the public relies.

The State Digital Accessibility Policy (PDF) aligns with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0) and the revised Section 508 Standards (PDF). The policy does not stipulate any specific technology or design approach. The aim is the maximize access to and usability of State of Maine digital information and services (public and internal) by people with disabilities.

There are two components to websites when considering accessibility, the site itself and the materials and information which are posted to it. Whether posing on a state website or using one of the many social media channels out there, it's critical to continue to ensure materials are accessible.
