Daniel Bolduc Named Director of Bureau of Labor Standards at Maine Department of Labor Bookmark and Share

AUGUSTA?The Maine Department of Labor is pleased to announce the hiring of Daniel Bolduc as Director of the Bureau of Labor Standards. He is replacing Pamela Megathlin, who left the department in 2017 for a new opportunity.

Bolduc joins the Department with more than 30 years of work in the private sector as both an insurance agent and the owner and operator of his own insurance firm. He is a graduate of Harvard University and a former Olympic athlete and professional hockey player in the National Hockey League with the Detroit Red Wings. He chronicled his journey in a personal memoir called ?From Pee Wee to Pro.?

?We are very excited to welcome Dan to the Department,? said Commissioner John Butera. ?His tenacity and enthusiasm will serve our constituencies well, and his dedication will certainly contribute to the integral role he will play as Director of the Bureau of Labor Standards.?

Similarly, Bolduc looks forward to his new position at the Department. ?I have enjoyed the challenge of my new position. Every day has been a learning experience,? he said.

Bolduc started his new position in April.

The Bureau of Labor Standards works professionally with its customers to continually improve workplace safety, health and workplace rights. The services it provides to employers include on-site safety and health consultations through the SafetyWorks! program, research and statistics involving Workers? Compensation data and guidance related to labor laws, youth employment and wages.

The Department of Labor administers Maine?s unemployment insurance system, helps ensure the safety of employees and provides workforce development leadership and vocational rehabilitation services throughout the state. The Department focuses on connecting Mainers with employers and helping businesses create jobs through strengthening our workforce and development system, improving outreach to businesses, and clarifying employment regulations.
