Nina McLaughlin Named as Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs at Maine Department of Labor Bookmark and Share

AUGUSTA?The Maine Department of Labor is pleased to announce the hiring of Nina McLaughlin as the Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs. She is replacing Jeanne St. Pierre, who is now Director of Constituent Services for Governor Paul LePage.

For the past few years Nina has served as the Communications Director for the Maine GOP where her primary responsibilities have included brand identity and management, press relations, and development of multimedia content for GOP events and social media. McLaughlin has spoken across the country on ways to improve communications strategies.

?Nina adds an entirely new perspective to our work,? said Commissioner John Butera, ?She understands the legislative process and the subtle nuances of communicating public policy, and knows how to build a strong support for issues of importance at the grassroots level.?

Nina graduated with a Bachelor?s degree in Communications with a focus on Public Advocacy from Ohio University?s Scripps College of Communication. McLaughlin started her new position September 18.

The Department of Labor administers Maine?s unemployment insurance system, helps ensure the safety of employees and provides workforce development leadership and vocational rehabilitation services throughout the state. The department focuses on connecting Mainers to jobs and helping businesses create jobs through strengthening our workforce development system, improving outreach to businesses and clarifying employment regulations.
