SPRINGVALE?The York County CareerCenter, located at 9 Bodwell Court in Springvale, continues its workshop programs for job seekers and those considering training to upgrade their skills and increase their employability.

?In this tight labor market, Maine?s businesses are finding it more difficult to recruit a skilled workforce,? said Governor Paul R. LePage. ?There are tens of thousands of jobs available throughout our state. If you are looking for a new job, a better job, or training, Maine CareerCenters can help you find the right services and programs that will help build your confidence and improve your skills and techniques. You may even qualify for a scholarship. Take that first step and visit or contact your closest Maine CareerCenter to start the conversation.?

CareerCenters can assist businesses by offering workshops on location, at local businesses or other organizations at no cost. The following workshops and programs will be held at the CareerCenter in Springvale unless otherwise noted.

Essentials of College Planning Workshop ? Mondays, August 7 and 21, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A FREE interactive workshop that outlines the four steps in the college process: admissions, financial aid, career planning, and study skills. The workshop lasts approximately two or three hours. GATEways to Employment ? Wednesday, August 9, 16, 23 and 30, 9 a.m. to Noon

Join this workshop for an overview of basic information on Resumes, Interviews and Job Search skills as well as CareerCenter and community resources available to you during your job search. Seats are limited, please call 324-5460 to register.

Employer Recruitments at the York County CareerCenter: CoWorx, MASIS and Manpower ? Wednesdays, August 9, 16, 23 and 30, Noon to 3 p.m.

Monthly Job Fair at the CareerCenter ? Monday, August 28, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Explore your next employment opportunity. Representatives from several companies will be here interviewing for current openings. Competitive Skills Scholarship Program - The Competitive Skills Scholarship helps workers learn new skills and succeed in a changing economy. The program is open to all qualified Maine residents and pays for education and training for high-wage jobs in demand in Maine. York County is currently accepting applications for the program.
