AUGUSTA---Residents of Androscoggin, Kennebec and Somerset counties who are unemployed or under-employed may qualify for a no-cost Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) training opportunity offered through the Augusta, Skowhegan and Lewiston CareerCenters, in partnership with MTEC and Mid-Maine Regional Adult Community Education. Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Technicians are in high demand and can start at $15 per hour plus benefit packages.

This training is valued at $12,000 and provides potential for immediate employment upon completion of course and receiving a license. An information session and orientation is being held at the Augusta CareerCenter, 21 Enterprise Dr., Ste. 2 in Augusta, on Wednesday, May 17, at 3:30 p.m. sharp. Individuals age 18 and up are encouraged to attend to learn more and see if they qualify.

Preferred candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, mechanical aptitude, a clean driver's license, can lift 50 lbs., can perform tasks physical in nature, and have good customer service skills. Successful candidates will be required to pass a criminal background check and a pre-employment physical examination that includes a drug and alcohol test.
