More than 40 employers will be hiring

BANGOR?The sixteenth Annual Spring Job Fair will be held on May 14, 2013, at the Spectacular Event Center, 395 Griffin Road in Bangor, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The first hour, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., is dedicated to job seekers who are military veterans.

?This job fair is a wonderful showcase of the industries and opportunities in the Bangor area,? said Governor Paul R. LePage. ?Information specific to services and training opportunities for veterans will also be available. My administration is focused on helping all Mainers find work, but especially our veterans, who have given so much of their time to serve our country.?

Job seekers can have their resumes professionally critiqued by CareerCenter staff while at the job fair.

Commissioner of Labor Jeanne Paquette reminded jobseekers to be prepared to make a strong first impression. ?Dress professionally and bring multiple copies of your resume,? she said. ?Be prepared to have an ?interview-like? conversation with employers to discuss your skills and abilities.?

The job fair is sponsored by the CareerCenter, the Bangor Daily News, the National Guard, Employer Support of the Guard & Reserve, Eastern Maine Development Corporation, and the Maine Department of Labor.

CareerCenters, part of the Maine Department of Labor, offer a variety of services to help people find employment or upgrade skills. Each center provides several public-access computer workstations with Microsoft Office software, resume writing and cover letter software, Internet access and O?Net software for skills assessment.
