LMIS Becomes the Center for Workforce Research and Information Bookmark and Share

Augusta - The Maine Department of Labor, Division of Labor Market Information Services is adopting a new name to better reflect the services they provide the people of Maine. Effective September 20, 2007 the unit will be called the Center for Workforce Research and Information. The name change occurred as a result of legislation signed into law last spring.

The Center for Workforce Research and Information is responsible for collecting, analyzing and reporting a vast array of information related to the performance of Maine labor markets and conditions impacting the Maine workforce and the greater economy. The data, reports, and research provided by the unit drive informed decision making on the part of workers, employers and policymakers.

  • Labor market trends
  • Employment projections

Information for employers includes:

  • Labor availability
  • How much to pay employees
  • Affirmative action information
  • Industry employment trends and projections

Information for policymakers includes:

  • Analysis and projections for workload planning and trust fund monitoring
  • Actuarial research for legislative proposals
