Springvale - Over forty Southern Maine employers seeking to fill job openings will be at the upcoming York County Regional Job Fair in Springvale on April 20. Employment opportunities showcased at the event will include jobs in a wide range of industry and occupational sectors.
“There is something here for everyone,” said Maine Labor Commissioner Robert Winglass. “This is a great opportunity for job seekers to meet face-to-face with prospective employers and make a good impression.”
The Job Fair will run from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the Nasson Community Center Gymnasium at 457 Main Street in Springvale. Some of the larger employers expected at the job fair include: Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Pratt & Whitney, Cianbro, Goodall Hospital, Corning, General Electric and all of the regional Employment Agencies. Sponsors include the York County CareerCenter, Maine Military Community Network, Goodwill-Workforce Solutions, Sanford Regional Technical Center and the Sanford-Springvale Chamber of Commerce.
The event is open to the public and there is no cost for job seekers to attend.
CareerCenter staff will be on hand to answer questions for jobseekers and host informational workshops. A resume writing session will be held at 10:30 and a 12:30 workshop is scheduled to help jobseekers identify skill sets that may help them land jobs in different careers or industry sectors. Veterans’ representatives will be on hand to answer questions about employment and training services available for eligible Veterans and their spouses.
Other job fairs are planned in other regions of the state in the coming months. A statewide listing of job fairs is listed on the Maine CareerCenter website at: www.mainecareercenter.com/employment/job-fairs.
