March 2, 2012

Over 40 Southern Maine employers have signed-up already for the April 20th York County Regional Job Fair in Springvale and event organizers are still reserving spots for businesses who hope to use the fair to recruit prospective hires.

?This is shaping up to be a big event, but we still have room for other employers that may be interested in having a booth at the job fair,? said Richard Freund, York County CareerCenter manager. ?We expect that participating employers will be recruiting for hundreds of jobs and that will be a big draw for job seekers throughout Southern Maine.?

The Job Fair will run from 10:00 AM ? 2:00 PM at the Nasson Community Center Gymnasium at 457 Main Street in Springvale. Some of the larger employers expected at the job fair include: Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Pratt & Whitney, Cianbro, Goodall Hospital, Corning, General Electric and all of the regional Employment Agencies. Sponsors include the York County CareerCenter, Maine Military Community Network, Goodwill-Workforce Solutions, Sanford Regional Technical Center and the Sanford-Springvale Chamber of Commerce.

CareerCenter staff will be on hand to answer questions for jobseekers and host informational workshops. A resume writing session will be held at 10:30 and a 12:30 workshop is scheduled to help jobseekers identify skill sets that may help them land jobs in different careers or industry sectors. Veterans? representatives will be on hand to answer questions about employment and training services available for eligible Veterans and their spouses.
